Mpls. Boy Who Stowed Away On Flight Is Back With Family
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis boy who stowed away on a flight to Las Vegas in October is now with his family – and no longer under court jurisdiction, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday.
On Tuesday, the Hennepin County judge says since the boy returned to his parents on May 30, he has been making good progress and the parents have been cooperative with social workers and outside help.
"This is good news," Freeman said. "The young man and his family and the 'system' worked together to try to resolve the issues that made him run in the first place. Congratulations to all."
In early October, the boy managed to board a Delta Airlines flight without a ticket. Flight attendants, however, became suspicious during the flight and when the flight reached Las Vegas, the boy was returned to Minnesota.
The boy was then placed in a youth facility.
He will continue to receive various counseling services through the family's insurance.
