MPCA Holding Meetings On 'Impaired Waters' List
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is holding a series of public meetings this month to present its draft list of "'impaired waters" for 2014.
It's a list of waters that violate water quality standards. The MPCA submits the list to the Environmental Protection Agency every even-numbered year. The MPCA says most of the changes from 2012 are based on water quality assessments conducted in several major watersheds across the state.
The first meeting is Tuesday at 9 a.m. at MPCA headquarters in St. Paul. Another is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the MPCA office in Detroit Lakes, and the third is next week, on Wed., Dec. 18., at the MPCA office in Rochester at 11 a.m.
The MPCA is taking formal written comments on the list from Jan. 2-31.
