Motion To Bar Jail Talk In Triple Slaying Trial
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Attorneys for a man accused of killing three people have asked that the defendant's jailhouse conversations be barred from his federal trial in Minneapolis.
Prosecutors want to introduce transcripts of Rashad Raleigh's phone conversations in which he allegedly told a relative that he has "a lot of rage built up" and that if he is freed from prison, he'd kill again.
The 33-year-old Raleigh and 29-year-old Tyvarus Lindsey are on trial for the home invasion homicides of two adults and a child in St. Paul. Maria McLay, her fiance, Otahl Saunders and McLay's 15-year-old daughter, Brittany Kekedakis, were shot and killed in March 2007. McLay's two other children, a 10-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son, were not harmed.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press says testimony during the trial has indicated the intruders, which included two other men, were looking for drugs and money.
