Morris Kids To Talk Cheeseburgers At Mpls. Schools
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Students from Morris Area High School will visit two Minneapolis elementary schools on Friday to talk about cheeseburgers.
But it's all in the name of education. Forty-five students from the Future Farmers of America program at the western Minnesota high school will teach the urban kids about agriculture and the food system.
The students at both Lucy Craft Laney and Jenny Lind elementary schools will learn how the components of a cheeseburger fit into Minnesota's agricultural system -- from the cheese made with milk from dairy cows, to the wheat grown to make flour for hamburger buns.
Farm animals will be present, and Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Dave Fredrickson will attend the morning session at Lucy Craft Laney School.
