Morneau Says He'll Be Ready For Spring Training

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau says there is no doubt in his mind he will be ready for spring training.

Morneau is recovering from a concussion that ended his season in July. He says he is feeling better every day and is getting ready to start pre-spring training workouts in Arizona.

Morneau spoke on Saturday after signing autographs at Target Field as part of his winter coat drive. Morneau says two months ago there was no way he could have sat through an extended signing like he did on Saturday.

Morneau was injured on July 7 while sliding into second base in Toronto. What was initially believed to be a minor injury ended up keeping him out for the remainder of the season and Minnesota's first-round playoff loss to the Yankees.
