More Than 50 Minn. Soldiers Deployed Overseas
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) -- Family and friends gathered Friday morning at a departure ceremony in St. Cloud as their loved ones were being deployed to Afghanistan.
More than 50 soldiers of Company C 2-211th are supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
The unit is an air ambulance company that uses Blackhawk helicopters to provide medical evacuation support.
"We're going to go in and help out soldiers that have been injured, or also foreign nationals that have been injured," said corporal Kevin Wood. "We bring them to a hospital so they can get help for their injuries."
Wood, of Winona, said this is his first mission.
