More Grocers Pull Sparboe Eggs From Shelves
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A number of grocery stores have pulled eggs from Sbarboe Farms off their shelves, in the wake of video showing purported animal cruelty.
The animal rights group Mercy for Animals released video from an undercover investigation into the Litchfield-based farm business.
The video showed some workers mistreating the chickens. Hens were also shown living in cramped cages.
Both McDonald's and Target took quick action, refusing to buy any more eggs from Sparboe.
Now, Lunds and Byerly's have also reportedly removed Sparboe eggs from store shelves and replaced them with Crystal Farms eggs.
Sparboe has said the behavior depicted in the video was unacceptable and inconsistent with their values.
