Moorhead Sandbagging Nears Completion
FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- The construction of sandbag dikes neared completion on Friday in Moorhead, Minn.
City Manager Michael Redlinger said more than 500 people were expected to help out Friday for the final push to place sandbags for protection against the rising Red River.
Redlinger says the sandbags were filled in March. He says volunteers started placing sandbags in Moorhead neighborhoods on Tuesday.
Redlinger says about 350,000 sandbags were expected to be in place by the end of the day Friday.
In neighboring Fargo, officials say more than 630,000 sandbags were delivered to neighborhoods earlier this week. An additional 235,000 sandbags were slated to be delivered around town on Friday.
