Money Mag Calls Chanhassen 4th Best Place To Live In U.S.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Three Twin Cities suburbs were named among the best places to live in America, according to Money Magazine, and Chanhassen was near the head of the pack for the entire country.
The magazine's 2013 list ranks Chanhassen fourth, just behind Sharon, Mass.; Louisville, Colo.; and Vienna, Va. Sherwood, Ore. rounded out the top five.
According to Money, the city has shown a remarkable rebound from recent economic woes.
"The housing market, which took a big hit, is surging back," the magazine reported. "Jobs have remained strong, and nearby Minneapolis offers big-name employers like Target and the Mayo Clinic."
Money also praised Chanhassen's variety of outdoor activities to enjoy in sun or snow: "Chanhassen's highlights include 34 parks, 90 miles of trails, and the 1,137-acre Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. When below-zero wind chills set in, there's February Festival with ice-fishing contests, sledding, and cookouts."
Chanhassen also ranked highly among Money Magazine's best places to live in 2011. The city ranked 10th that year.
Also ranking highly on Money Magazine's list for 2013 were Apple Valley (#17) and Savage (#21), which was praised for its "quaint, walkable downtown."
Money Magazine alternates their rankings each year between cities with populations under 50,000 and cities with populations between 50,000 and 300,000 people.
Last year, Eden Prairie ranked third on Money's list, with high rankings also going to Woodbury (#11), Eagan (#14), Lakeville (#19), and Maple Grove (#22).
