MOA Hosts 6th Annual Walk To End Hunger, Raises $305K
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO/AP) — A Thanksgiving tradition returned Thursday with the sixth annual Walk to End Hunger inside the Mall of America.
This year, the event expanded beyond its 5K family-fun walk to raise money for 12 Twin Cities area hunger-related charities.
The the event raised $305,000 and had over 4,000 walkers this year.
"The money raised today will go a long way toward helping the partner organizations meet the growing hunger needs of the Twin Cities community," said Lori Kratchmer, spokesperson, Walk to End Hunger.
Special guests included five-time walk participant U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, Sarah Caruso, president and CEO – Greater Twin Cities United Way and Corrine Ricard, senior vice president, Human Resources, the Mosaic Company
Since 2008, the Walk to End Hunger has raised more than $1.5 million.
