MnDOT, State Patrol Adds Extra Patrols On MnPASS Lanes
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – MnPASS drivers may soon see more law enforcement on the road.
As part of a two-year trial partnership, the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol are teaming up to combat illegal drivers on MnPASS lanes.
Beginning on Aug. 17, officers will patrol Interstate 35E, Interstate 394 and Interstate 35W. Six troopers will be assigned to enforce these roads during peak-travel times.
The goal is to cut down on drivers illegally using the lanes.
State Troopers will receive training specifically for MnPASS operations. While their primary concern is drivers abusing the lanes, they will still patrol for other dangerous driving behaviors.
