MnDOT Announces Plans For New St. Croix Bridge
STILLWATER, Minn. (WCCO) -- Plans for a new bridge over the St. Croix River are starting to take shape.
At an open house in Stillwater on Tuesday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced the project will be spearheaded by Jon Chiglo, the engineer behind the rebuilding of the 35W Bridge in 2007.
"We'll have a lot of eyes on us as we deliver this project, a lot of scrutiny. I mean this project went all the way to the White House," said Tom Sorel with MnDOT.
The bridge is estimated to cost between $571 and $676 million. Construction is expected to begin in 2014 and take about three years to complete.
