MN Man Sentenced In High-Speed Chase In ND
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- A Minnesota man accused of leading law officers on a high-speed chase through the Fort Berthold Reservation in North Dakota has been sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison.
Authorities says 27-year-old Derek Reinolt of Duluth, Minn., was drunk on June 26 when he fled from officers who tried to stop him after he hit a parked vehicle on New Town's Main Street. They say he eventually stopped but not before leading officers on a chase across the Four Bears Bridge and on highways throughout the reservation at speeds that at times exceeded 100 mph.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says Reinolt pleaded guilty in May to reckless endangerment. He'll be on supervised release for two years following his prison term.
