MN Man Gets ND Prison Time In Terrorizing Case
GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) -- A Minnesota man has been sentenced to a year in prison for forcing his girlfriend and her 6-year-old daughter to stand outside in the cold in northeastern North Dakota.
Authorities say 44-year-old Scott Boothman, of Warroad, Minn., was driving with his girlfriend and her girl from Warroad to Grand Forks on Dec. 9 when he forced them to stand outside at an Interstate 29 exit near Grafton after an argument. The woman and girl were not hurt despite the wind chill being as cold as 30 degrees below zero.
Boothman was arrested following a chase with police that authorities say reached speeds of 100 mph. He pleaded guilty in January to reckless endangerment and drunken driving. He initially had faced a more serious charge of terrorizing.
