MN House Back To Full Strength As New Rep. Joins
HIBBING, Minn. (AP) -- The newest member of the Minnesota House has officially taken office.
Democratic Rep.-elect Carly Melin was sworn Tuesday in for a district representing many Iron Range towns. A judge from the area administered the oath at Hibbing City Hall.
Melin, a lawyer, was elected last week to replace former House Majority Leader Tony Sertich, who stepped down to take an executive branch post.
The House had been operating with 133 members. Her presence won't alter the balance of power in St. Paul. Republicans hold a 72-62 advantage.
