Missouri Man Sentenced For Robbing 4 Minnesota Banks
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 40-year-old Missouri man has been sentenced to over 18 years in prison for robbing four Minnesota banks between 2007 and 2008.
According to the United States Attorney's Office, Joseph Paul Young will serve 120 months of the 220-month sentence consecutively with previous bank robbery sentences handed out in West Virginia (240 months) and South Dakota (216 months).
Prosecutors proved Young stole $7,410 from a Maplewood Bank, $1,196 from a Fridley bank, $1,400 from a Bloomington bank and $4,350 from a bank in Luverne, Minn. The robberies occurred between Sept 19, 2007 and April 16, 2008.
Young was commonly referred to as the "plaid" or "flannel" shirt robber during the course of the robberies.
Young was indicted on July 14, 2009 and convicted on June 23, 2011.
