Minot, Ward Co. Receiving $40M In CDBG Funds
MINOT, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's governor and congressional delegation say the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded the city of Minot and Ward County more than $40 million in disaster relief funding.
Sens. John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp, Rep. Kevin Cramer and Gov. Jack Dalrymple say the city and county will now be allowed to use the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Relief funding for home acquisition outside the floodplain, which was formerly disallowed.
The award brings the total block grant for Minot to more than $112 million, and the total of all federal funding combined to the city and region to more than $632 million.
The city received $35 million of the new money. The state of North Dakota received $6.6 million, with 80 percent going to Ward County.
