Minot Flooding Victims Allowed To Return To Homes
MINOT, N.D. (WCCO) -- Weeks after flooding forced thousands from their homes in Minot, North Dakota, people are finally being allowed back in.
City officials are now letting people in the mandatory evacuation areas back into their homes and businesses.
However, authorities are only allowing residents back in who don't have water in their yard and don't have to drive through water to get to their property.
When the news was released, it didn't take long for lines of vehicles to form to get back in and the process of cleaning up to begin.
The total cost of damage to infrastructure, private property, and fighting the flood in the Minot area is estimated at more than $1 billion.
An estimated 800 homes will have to be demolished.
