Wild Opening Restaurant To Honor Herb Brooks
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- There's a new place to grab a quick bite to eat before a hockey game in St. Paul.
The restaurant is inspired by a beloved and well-respected hockey coach. Herbie's on the Park will open this fall next to Rice Park in the Minnesota Club. It will occupy part of the Minnesota Wild's team headquarters on the first floor.
It's inspired by Olympic coach Herb Brooks and will serve upscale tavern fare and handcrafted cocktails. The guys behind the restaurant include Wild's owner Craig Leipold and Herb's brother Dave.
"Honestly there was only one name that I had in the back of my mind and wanted to be associated with this. And that was Herb Brooks," Leipold said. "Probably one of the biggest regrets that I have being a hockey person is that I never was able to sit down and talk hockey with Herb Brooks."
