The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for most of the state from Monday night until noon Tuesday. It is going to feel as cold as negative-35 degrees in the northern two-thirds of the state. Frost bite can set in within 15 minutes in these conditions.

Temperatures across Minnesota were in the single digits and below Monday night, with the mercury falling all the way to negative-12 degrees in Bemidji.

The Twin Cities will take its first trip below zero in the overnight, with a low of negative-5 degrees.

Tuesday will be sunny, but highs will barely make it into the positive single digits, with the Twin Cities reaching about 4 degrees. Figuring in wind speeds, it could feel below zero for 50 consecutive hours in much of the state.

Another snow storm will back its way across the state late Tuesday through Wednesday morning. It will only drop around an inch in most places – but that's enough to make the morning commute a dicey one.

The cold snap will come to an end Thursday, when highs will reach the low 20s. There is another chance of snow late Friday, then high temps will drop into the teens for the weekend.
