Minnesota State Fair Grounds Hosts 'Craftstravaganza'
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) –The annual Craftstravaganza was held Saturday on the Minnesota State Fair Grounds in St. Paul, Minn.
From little monsters, to doggie beds, and funny cards, last minute Mother's Day shoppers, and shoppers otherwise, got a chance to find some really unique items made by local artists and designers.
Nearly a hundred people showed off their handmade work.
The creative mind behind a batch colorful creatures told WCCO how she got into the monster making business.
"I work with kids, and a long, long time ago I was just sculpting and I wanted to make something to appeal to my students. And I started making little creatures. And I did one tiny little coffee shop craft fair and sold out," Laura Averback said.
Averback molds them out of polymer clay, creates the color herself and then bakes them in a toaster oven.
Each one is unique, like many of the other crafts at the fair.
For those who didn't make it out Saturday, you'll have to wait until next year. The event was only for one day.
