Minnesota Opera Comes To Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (AP) -- Residents of Alexandria will get a taste of opera this weekend.
Performers from the Minnesota Opera will sing excerpts from Bizet's "Carmen" at a concert Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Jefferson High School auditorium.
It's the culmination of a weeklong opera residency in Alexandria. Last year, the Minnesota Opera went to Chisholm for a community concert and residency.
Sunday's hour-long concert will feature the opera singers joined by the Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra, Jefferson High School Carolers and a local children's chorus. Students from Jefferson High will provide narration. The musical numbers will be sung in their original French, but English translations will be projected above the stage.
Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for students and are available at the door.
