Minnesota Officials To Provide Update To Unemployment Rate
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota officials are providing their first update to the state's unemployment picture since January.
A report set for release Tuesday will disclose whether the state's jobless figure remains on a downward trend. The last report seven weeks ago put Minnesota's seasonally adjusted rate at 3.6 percent, which was the lowest in 13 years and well beneath the national average.
There was a longer-than-normal lag between reports because every year the Department of Employment and Economic Development takes time to benchmark the state's data to 21 months of figures from federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
At last check, the national unemployment rate was at 5.5 percent.
