Minnesota Man Rescued After Fall In Wyoming
MOOSE, Wyo. (AP) — Rangers rescued a 60-year-old Minnesota man who apparently had fallen while attempting to summit a 13,770-foot peak in Grand Teton National Park in northwest Wyoming.
The National Park Service says Steve Markusen, of Minneapolis, was rescued Friday morning.
It says Markusen was free climbing alone at about 13,300 feet on Grand Teton Mountain when he fell about 100 feet.
The Park Service says Markusen was unable to recall exactly what happened, but he told rangers he may have been struck by a rock that caused him to fall. He was found by other climbers.
It says Markusen incurred extensive traumatic injuries. He was taken to St. John's Medical Center in Jackson. Hospital officials declined to release any details about his condition.
