Minnesota Man Gets 30 Years In Chicago Cold Case
CHICAGO (AP) — A 58-year-old Minnesota man has been sentenced to 30 years in an Illinois prison for a decades-old cold case killing.
Bruno Salgado of Ramsey, Minn., was sentenced Friday. He was convicted in a June bench trial of the 1982 murder of 28-year-old Ismael Solano. He had been on the run since Solano's shooting death on Chicago's North Side. Detectives got a warrant for Salgado's arrest in 1982 after witnesses identified him as the gunman. But police say he fled to Mexico before he could be arrested.
The case was featured on the TV show "America's Most Wanted" in December 2006, and police say they discovered Salgado was living in Minnesota. Minneapolis police arrested him in 2010.
