Minnesota Judge Dismisses NBA Court Proceedings
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The NBA legal battle is officially over.
U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz in Minnesota dismissed the lawsuit Monday at the request of players and owners now that the two sides have approved a new collective bargaining agreement. Training camps and free agency opened last Friday.
A group of NBA players had filed the antitrust lawsuit against the league. Named plaintiffs including Carmelo Anthony, Steve Nash and Kevin Durant filed an amended lawsuit against the league in Minnesota on Nov. 21. The locked-out players also filed a class-action antitrust suit in California, though that was later withdrawn.
The shortened season begins on Christmas.
