Minnesota Has Knack For Ruining Impressive Hockey Streaks
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Chicago Blackhawks tote an impressive 19-0-3 record, and a 22-games point streak into Tuesday night's game against the Wild.
But, do you remember Jan. 7, 1980, when the Minnesota North Stars ended the Philadelphia Flyers' 35-game unbeaten streak, a record one that still stands today?
Back then at the Met Center, arguably the best hockey facility in the country, was filled to the rafters with a Stanley Cup atmosphere. The home team snapped the Flyers' streak, winning 7-1.
The current general manager of the Flyers is a St. Paul native by the name of Paul Holmgren. Back in 1980, he was a 24-year-old winger for Philadelphia.
