Minnesota Company To Build Nebraska Pole Plant
SIDNEY, Neb. (AP) — A Minnesota company will be building a $25 million plant and logistics center in the Nebraska Panhandle city of Sidney.
Bell Lumber & Pole Co., which is based in New Brighton, Minn., and Sidney officials announced the project earlier this week.
The company will commit $20 million to the project. State and local inducements include $5 million in Progress Loan Funding, $600,000 from a block grant and $1.5 million in tax increment financing.
Work on the plant is expected to begin soon. The company expects to hire 30 or more workers by the time the plant opens next summer.
The company will process raw timber into poles at the new plant and then ship them around the nation via rail or trucks.
