Minnesota Beats Michigan Tech
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Nick Bjugstad scored two short-handed goals as Minnesota beat Michigan Tech 5-2 on Friday.
Bjugstad also had an assist as Minnesota ran its winning streak over Michigan Tech to six straight games. The Golden Gophers (14-12-5, 11-10-4) outshot the Huskies 42-30.
Taylor Matson, Jacob Cepis and Nick Larson also scored for Minnesota.
Daniel Holmberg opened the scoring for Michigan Tech (4-24-43, 2-21-2), but the Golden Gophers answered just 23 seconds later on a goal by Matson. That was the first of three straight Minnesota goals.
Kent Patterson made 28 saves for the Gophers, while Kevin Genoe stopped 37 shots for the Huskies.
Eight different players scored points for Minnesota, which extended its season-best unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1).
The Gophers have scored 20 goals in their last four games after scoring 16 in the previous seven games.
Milos Gordic scored a power-play goal for the Huskies late in the third period.
Minnesota was 0-for-4 on the power play.
The Gophers entered the night one point ahead of Colorado College for sixth place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The top six teams get home ice advantage for the first round of the WCHA tournament.
