Minneapolis Police Looking For Suspect In Sexual Assault
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis police are looking for a man, who they say followed a woman home on a bus and later sexually assaulted her.
It happened around 2 a.m. early Saturday morning.
It's the third time this kind of an attack has happened in the past month.
On Nov. 19, a 26-year-old woman was attacked near Stevens Square Park.
On the same day a St. Catherine's University woman was attacked near Riverside Park.
Police later arrested Louis Richard Oliver, of Hastings, for that Riverside Park assault.
Police say in the latest case a man followed a woman onto a bus in downtown Minneapolis. When she got off at bus stop on East 34th Street and Chicago Avenue South, he did, too. Police say he then grabbed the woman and dragged her to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her. He also took her cell phone and jacket.
Police have not said if this assault is related to one that happened near Stevens Square Park on Nov. 19. Regardless, it's enough to make some in the neighborhood think twice about taking the bus.
"I'm with my friend all the time. I don't want to be by myself. And I try not to take the bus at night. I try to be home before the night comes," said Gabriela Guzman, who lives in the area.
Police are looking for a black man, 30 to 40 years old.
They say he is around 6-feet-tall with a thin build, and he was wearing a black, puffy jacket, according to the victim.
