Minneapolis Man, 21, Pleads Guilty To Crash That Killed 2
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty to driving drunk and causing a crash that killed two people in Brooklyn Center, according to the Dakota County Attorney's Office.
At the Hennepin County District Court Tuesday, 21-year-old Yeng Vue pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide.
On March 5, 2011, Brooklyn Center Police responded to a car crash on the intersection of 57th Avenue North and Highway 100. When they arrived, a 2005 Toyota Camry and a 1996 Geo Prism were found on the median.
Both occupants of the Geo Prism were declared dead at the scene.
Authorities learned that prior to the crash Vue and his cousin were drinking beer and hard liquor at a friend's house.
Vue, whose license was revoked, was driving his cousin's uninsured car to Brooklyn Center at the time of the crash. Vue apparently drove the Camry through a red light at a high rate of speed, crashing into the Prism.
Vue's blood alcohol level was .22 at the time of the crash.
"This is another sad and tragic example of the extreme danger associated with drunk driving," said Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom.
Vue's sentencing is set for Oct. 14, 2011.
