Minn. Vikings Know They Have A Special Kicker
MANKATO (WCCO) -- In NFL football, special teams are so important nowadays and the Minnesota Vikings know they have a special kicker in Blair Walsh.
This year in Mankato, Walsh is signing a lot more autographs for fans.
"Last year, I would say, is a fraction of how many are asking now, but you know it's a good thing," Walsh said. "One day, people won't want your autograph anymore, so you got to take advantage of it while they do.
In a position that requires skill and a great deal of mental aptitude, Walsh is flourishing. For example, a 60-yard field goal in training camp put fans in awe.
That's the way he's progressing and becoming a confident kicker in the NFL.
"It just proved to me, and I think the team, what I'm capable of doing. Nothing's ever given to you so you still have to work hard for it," Walsh said.
