Minn. St., Mankato Hires Hastings As Hockey Coach
MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota State University, Mankato has named former USHL coach Mike Hastings as the new head coach of its men's hockey team.
The Mavericks announced the hire on Saturday night. Hastings replaces Troy Jutting, who was fired in April after 12 seasons on the job.
Hastings becomes the third head coach in the program's history. He spent the last three seasons as associate head coach at Nebraska-Omaha.
Hastings also spent 14 years with Omaha's USHL team. He won 529 games during his tenure with the Lancers, more than any other coach in league history.
He takes over a program that has finished 11th in the WCHA in each of the last two seasons.
Hastings signed a four-year contract worth $225,000 a year.
