Minn. Senate Confirms Agriculture Commissioner
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Senate has confirmed David Frederickson to serve as state agriculture commissioner in the administration of Gov. Mark Dayton.
The GOP-controlled Senate on Monday approved by voice vote the Democratic governor's choice to lead the state Department of Agriculture.
Frederickson is a former state senator from Murdock who also led the National Farmers Union and was Sen. Amy Klobuchar's agricultural outreach director. He is a fourth-generation farmer.
Frederickson took over the job in January for Gene Hugoson, who had served in the position under three governors since 1995.
