Minn. Senate Committee To Vote On Brodkorb Deal
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A committee of the Minnesota Senate is meeting to vote on a $30,000 lawsuit settlement for an ex-aide who was fired after revelations of his affair with the majority leader.
The Senate Rules and Administration Committee, made up of the chamber's most prominent members, is meeting Monday afternoon to review and likely approve the settlement. The agreement, set last week, brought an end to the long dispute between former GOP communications aide Michael Brodkorb that generated $300,000 in legal fees for the Senate.
Brodkorb had claimed he was wrongly fired after his affair with then-Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch surfaced in late 2011. He had sought much more in damages, and Senate leaders pointed out the $30,000 settlement was the same as they initially offered Brodkorb as severance.
