Minn. Senate Bid Struggling, Bills Looks For hope

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kurt Bills is taking positive signs where he can get them as he struggles for support in a race he's given little chance of winning.

Bills said Tuesday in an interview with The Associated Press that he believes many voters want an alternative to Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar. But he admits that with three weeks to Election Day, his campaign has lacked the resources to spread his biography and his message widely.

Bills says a middle class high school teacher from a blue-collar background should be a strong candidate. He says his message that the U.S. is teetering on financial insolvency is important and that in the Senate, he'd push for sweeping reforms to how the federal government collects and spends tax dollar.
