Minn. Republicans Plan Post-Session Media Tour
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Republican leaders of the Minnesota Legislature plan to visit five communities around the state to urge Gov. Mark Dayton to support the state budget they passed.
The Republicans released their media fly-around plans Monday, a few hours before their legislative session is to end with no sign of a budget deal with Dayton in sight. That would make a special session necessary once the two sides can find common ground.
Republican-passed budget bills add up to about $34 billion for the state's upcoming two-year spending cycle. But Dayton says he won't support the bills because he wants about another $1.8 billion in new revenue to avoid some of the deepest cuts and reductions in the GOP plan.
Republicans plan stops in St. Paul, Rochester, Mankato, Moorhead, Brainerd and Duluth on Tuesday.
