Minn. Red Cross Workers On Tornado Relief Standby

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- Red Cross workers from Minnesota may be called up to help tornado victims in the south.

Twin Cities Red Cross official Lynette Nyman has responded to other tornadoes -- from St Peter, Minn. to Tuscaloosa, Ala. -- and has one word for what happened in West Liberty, Ky.:

"Shocking," she said in a telephone interview from the town of 3,000.

Nyman says there's a strong chance that Minnesota volunteers will mobilize.

"It could very well be that, every day, there might be the call for Minnesotans (Red Cross volunteers) to deploy to this area," she added.

Nyman says everyone in West Liberty is feeling the effects of the tornado whether it be the death of a loved one or the destruction of a home or business.
