Minn. Park Reservation System Relaunch Complete

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Officials say Minnesota's troubled new state park reservations system is now fully up and running.

Heavy demand crashed the system the morning it went online March 1. The Department of Natural Resources has been working with its vendor since then to beef up capacity. They resumed taking campsite and lodging reservations for limited dates on March 22 and added additional dates in phases.

The DNR said in a statement Tuesday that the relaunch is complete. Reservations are once again being accepted up to a year in advance. It says more than 8,500 reservations have already been made online and by telephone.

Courtland Nelson, director of the DNR's Parks and Trails Division, says they're ready to meet the demand.

The new website has photos of most campsites and other new features.
