Minn. Nurse Pleads Guilty In Pedestrian Death
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- An Eagan nurse has pleaded guilty to speeding in a St. Paul accident that killed a 24-year-old pedestrian.
Thirty-one-year-old Alissa Anderson had been charged with two misdemeanor counts -- one for inattentive driving, the other for speeding. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports she admitted Monday she drove between 31 and 40 mph in a 30-mph zone.
The inattentive-driving charge is expected to be dropped at her sentencing, set for Dec. 30.
Her attorney says it's "highly unlikely" that Anderson, who has no criminal record in Minnesota, will face jail time.
Anderson was driving her sport utility vehicle on Grand Avenue last Nov. 9 when she looked down at her cellphone. According to the complaint, she looked up again just as she was striking Emma Holman of Bloomington.
