Minn. Murder Defendant Faces New Charges In Ariz.
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) -- A former Minnesota man accused of killing his nephew over a drug debt is facing new charges in Arizona, where he was arrested.
Sixty-five-year-old Michael Alan Burris is behind bars in Phoenix. Maricopa County Sheriff's Sgt. Brandon Jones says Burris is accused of trying to hire someone to kill his ex-wife, her boyfriend and her boyfriend's wife. Jones says Burris is charged in Arizona with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
In Minnesota, Burris and his son, Michael Kyle Burris, are charged with killing the older man's nephew.
The body of Scott Burris was found near Orwell Lake several weeks after he was reported missing in May 2012. The victim was last seen at the Fergus Falls home of the two defendants, who moved to Mesa, Ariz., earlier this year.
Court records do not list an attorney for Burris.
