Minn. Men Hurt, 1 Killed In Shooting Outside Nev. Business
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police were looking for a gunman and possibly an accomplice after a pre-dawn shooting Monday left one employee dead and another wounded outside a food production plant along Interstate 15 in southern Nevada.
The gunman fled in a light-colored Dodge car with a dark racing stripe moments after opening fire in a parking lot at Farm Fresh Foods, North Las Vegas police Officer Chrissie Coon said.
Investigators didn't immediately say what prompted the shooting or if anything was taken. Coon said it wasn't immediately clear if another person was in the car.
The wounded man was in stable condition after being taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas with injuries that were described as life-threatening, Coon said.
The three men confronted in the parking lot were employees of the firm, said Diane Sparish, a spokeswoman for parent company Michael Foods Group Inc. of Minnetonka, Minn.
The plant employs about 30 people, and about 20 who had arrived before the shooting were sent home Monday.
"We are all deeply saddened by what has happened," Sparish told The Associated Press. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and all of the employees at our North Las Vegas facility."
Police were reviewing surveillance camera images and obtained at least one image showing the car, Coon said.
