Minn. Man To Plead Guilty In Baby's Death In Van

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — A Moorhead man has agreed to plead guilty in the death of his infant daughter, who died after she was left in a hot minivan for several hours.

Clay County Attorney Brian Melton says Andrew Sandstrom will take responsibility for causing the death of his 5-month-old daughter, Christiana, in June.

Police say Sandstrom forgot about the infant while unloading five other young children out of the vehicle. The other children are in foster care.

KFGO-AM (http://bit.ly/19kVxyN) reports Sandstrom agreed to plead guilty to second-degree manslaughter. He earlier pleaded not guilty and was scheduled to go on trial next Tuesday.

Instead of seeking prison time, the prosecutor says he will recommend that Sandstrom get a one-year jail term and be allowed work release. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 11.
