Dayton Vetoes $900M In Cuts From GOP Legislature
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton has swiftly vetoed a GOP-crafted budget bill cutting $900 million from the state's budget deficit.
Dayton acted Thursday within hours of final passage by the Legislature. He has criticized both the content of the proposal and the strategy of Republicans to chip away at a $6.2 billion shortfall without outlining a comprehensive solution.
The Democratic governor is due to release a two-year budget next week.
