Minn. Lawmaker Sentenced For Driving Drunk
BUFFALO (WCCO) -- A Minnesota lawmaker who pleaded guilty to driving drunk last September learned his punishment.
Mark Buesgens, a Republican state representative from Jordan, was arrested in Wright County after a deputy saw him drive his car in a ditch. Dash cam video from the deputy's car showed Buesgens failing a field sobriety test.
Buesgens was sentenced to 90 days in the Wright County Jail. However, he won't have to serve that time unless he violates his probation over the next two years.
The sentence also requires Buesgens to attend a MADD impact panel, participate in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for 12 weeks and perform 60 hours of community service.
He's also not allowed to drink or use drugs.
Buesgens was reelected to his position in the Minnesota Legislature earlier this month.
