Minn. Goes Dem. As Obama, Klobuchar, Nolan Win
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota voters have reinforced the state's liberal reputation by handing Democrats near-total victory in Tuesday's election.
The state backed President Barack Obama and U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar. They relieved Republicans of legislative control and put Democrats back in charge. They handed a northeastern Minnesota House seat back to Democrats after a two-year hiatus.
They also rejected a pair of proposed constitutional amendments pushed by Republicans -- one to ban gay marriage, one to require photo ID at the polls.
