Minn. Firefighter's Death Is Ruled An Accident
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The death of a Cambridge firefighter who died after a training exercise has officially been ruled an accident.
The Hennepin County medical examiner's office says 35-year-old Chip Imker of Harris died of blunt-force trauma. The manner of death has been ruled accidental.
Imker died Tuesday afternoon. He had been injured the previous evening in a fall while training in rope-rescue techniques. The accident happened after the training was completed.
City Administrator Lynda Woulfe said Imker fell about six to eight feet onto a concrete surface at the fire hall.
Imker joined the fire department last year. His funeral will be held Saturday in the Cambridge-Isanti High School gym.
The medical examiner's office released its conclusions Thursday.
