Minn. Duluth Shuts Out Michigan Tech 1-0
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota-Duluth goalie Matt McNeely made 28 saves as the Bulldogs beat Michigan Tech 1-0 on Friday night in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Joe Basaraba gave Minnesota-Duluth (8-10-3, 6-6-3) the only goal it needed when he beat Michigan Tech's Pheonix Copley for his eighth goal of the season at 17:47 of the second period.
Copley had a busy night, facing 42 shots, including 22 in the second period. The Bulldogs outshot Michigan Tech 42-28.
Minnesota-Duluth improved to 9-1-2 in its last 12 games against the Huskies (6-11-3, 3-9-3). It is 7-2-1 in series openers this season, but only 1-6-2 in second games.
