Minn. Duluth Edges Notre Dame 4-3
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- Travis Oleksuk's goal at 15:36 lifted Minnesota Duluth to a 4-3 men's college hockey win over Notre Dame on Friday.
The Bulldogs (1-0-0) outshot Notre Dame 31-17, but Irish goalie Mike Johnson made 27 saves to keep his team in the game.
Notre Dame (0-1-0) tied it 3-3 on Mike Voran's goal at 14:17 of the second period. But the Irish managed just four shots on goal in the third.
Keegan Flaherty, Mike Seidel and J.T. Brown also scored for UMD. Brown added an assist and Jack Connolly two assists.
Billy Maday and Anders Lee netted goals for Notre Dame. Jeff Costello had two assists.
Kenny Reiter made 14 saves for the Bulldogs.
