Minn. Duluth Beats Ala.-Huntsville 2-1
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Duluth goalie Kenny Reiter flirted with his fourth shutout of the season Friday, stopping 25 shots but settling for a 2-1 win over Alabama-Huntsville.
Reiter was busy in the nets for the top-ranked Bulldogs (16-4-3), but not as busy as Alabama-Huntsville's Clarke Saunders, who made 52 saves. Saunders stopped 20 shots in the second period.
Minnesota Duluth outshot the Chargers (2-23-1) 54-26 to improve to 15-1-3 in its last 19 games.
Justin Crandall and Travis Oleksuk scored to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Tom Durnie scored the only Alabama-Huntsville goal on the power play at 17:05.
The Bulldogs have won seven straight home games.
Minnesota Duluth's Jack Connolly had an assist to extend his scoring streak to 21 games. Mark Pavelich set the school single-season record of 22 in 1978-79.
